Travel Health Insurance
When travelling abroad, it’s important to look after your health. You should make sure you have received the necessary vaccinations for your destination and know who to contact in an emergency, but you should also ensure you’ve got travel health insurance.
It’s easy to arrange medical travel insurance with high levels of cover to ensure peace of mind. Our Basic cover includes emergency medical treatment, additional accommodation and travel expenses if you cannot return to the United Kingdom. It will also provide repatriation to the United Kingdom if it is medically necessary.
Travelling in Europe: In most European countries treatment is not free. You should obtain a European Health Insurance Card from the Department of Health (The E111 form is no longer valid). An EHIC shows you are entitled to reduced cost emergency medical cover within any European Economic Area or Switzerland, however you should also take out travel health insurance to cover any costs.
Advice for pregnant women: Our travel health insurance cover is not provided if you are more than 28 weeks pregnant at the start of or during your trip, (or 24 weeks in the case of a multiple pregnancy) and your claim relates to pregnancy or childbirth.
You can begin your trip without any travel insurance and be self insured. But did you know that if you become ill abroad the costs to treat you could be very high. How would you find a doctor? Where would you find appropriate healthcare facility? Where would you seek advice? Did you know that HMO's, PPO's and Medicare typically do not cover you abroad?
